Let me start by saying this isn’t about badmouthing anyone — everyone I’ve interacted with at Avoya has been very nice. Unfortunately, the process and training leave a lot to be desired.
I’ve been with Avoya for five weeks and have paid about $600 in fees so far. In return, I’ve received around 100 video lessons on their booking system, Agent Power. I have an MBA and recently retired after a long, successful career in sales, yet I found the training overwhelming and difficult to navigate. I even printed all the PDFs (and spent another $100 on ink and paper) just to have a set of “breadcrumbs” to follow.
I was clear from the start that I’d be working part-time, but the program demands full-time effort just to complete the first few training waves — all while the monthly fees keep adding up. About halfway through, there’s even a video acknowledging that most of the leads you’ll receive aren’t valuable, which echoes what other reviewers have said.
If I could get my $500 sign-up fee back, I’d move to a smaller, more personal host agency immediately. I don’t plan to stay with Avoya long term, but I’m finishing the training so I can compare it fairly with the experiences of six friends who joined other host agencies.
Avoya is a large, established company, and I’m sure some people thrive in their system. For me, though, it feels impersonal — like being a small fish in a big pond, paying for access to endless videos instead of real mentorship. The silver lining is that at least I’ll have a tax write-off for all the money I’ve spent without earning a dime.
